Band of the week: Dishonor

Band of the week 01/2024

Origin: Hamburg
Genre: Modern Metalcore, Melodic Metal

Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version.

The band about itself:

In 2016, we spontaneously decided to form a cover band over a beer. As we were already good friends, shared the same hobbies and came from the same small town, the connection was already there. Above all, we shared a passion for metal. We put the idea into practice and performed as a cover band at regional festivals. In 2020, we decided to write our own music and changed our band name to “DISHONOR“.

Editorial commentary:

With a powerful synthesis of harmonious melodic metal and modern metalcore, the band Dishonor embodies a unique artistic vision. The five-piece formation, whose origins lie in a modest rehearsal room in an old school, not only shares a long-standing friendship, but above all a common passion for metal in all its facets. This passion drove the formation of a cover band in 2016.

After a phase of further development and intensive rehearsals, the band’s first demo album Mnemonic was released in 2020. But that was just the beginning. In the years that followed, Dishonor worked continuously on their musical development and perfected their skills. In the spring of 2022, they reached a milestone by recording their first professional studio album.

The current album, titled Smoke Screen, was released on October 20, 2023 on all major streaming platforms and marks a high point in Dishonor‘s musical journey. Successfully blending classic heavy metal and contemporary metalcore, the album offers a sonic diversity that appeals to both fans of traditional sounds and lovers of energetic breakdowns.

The title track Smoke Screen acts as the album’s flagship and reflects the band’s broad spectrum. In this song, not only do various metal elements merge in an impressive way, but also lyrically, a space for individual interpretations unfolds. The song metaphorically addresses the escape from personal demons, be it in the form of addiction, fears or compulsions.

For fans of bands such as Lamb Of God, Soilwork, Killswitch Engage, Bury Tomorrow and In Flames, Dishonor offers a sophisticated and captivating musical experience.
