Band of the week: XO Armor

Band of the week 07/2026

Origin: Koblenz, Germany
Genre: Trap-Metal

Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version.

The band about itself:

XO Armor has created its own island called Nublar – a biome beyond our comprehension. Sailors who got close to the island reported about a thick mist which carries humming, threatening waves of sounds they never heard before. Some of them also claim to have seen schemes of prehistoric, believed-to-be-extinct animals. However, nobody has yet dared to explore this new landscape. Therefore, we need you – please join us on an expedition through the jungles, swamps and volcanos on Nublar to see what XO Armor has been creating on that island. Because one thing is certain – whoever can get XO Armor on their side will have control over the music market – and maybe the whole world.

Editorial commentary:

XO Armor are one of those bands I saw live without knowing much about them beforehand. At Traffic Jam Open Air 2025, they won me over immediately, and afterwards I couldn’t get their album Nublar out of my head. Sure, an album featuring dinosaurs is already a great start. But XO Armor manage to give it a particularly captivating sound with their trap-infused mix: electronic beats meet spoken word, clean vocals, shouting, and tons of breakdowns. Lyrics written from the perspective of these prehistoric giants are the icing on the cake. On that day at Traffic Jam, they also performed „Dino-Nuggets,“ a collaboration with the King Nugget Gang, which quickly became the summer hit of the year. Just under a month later, XO Armor confirmed and solidified that first impression at Fallen Fortress Open Air. A super likeable band that also knows how to completely win you over on stage. My enthusiasm reached its first peak last November when I embarked on a seven-hour journey to celebrate my birthday with them and the King Nugget Gang. Due to a few unforeseen circumstances, the trip turned out to be my most adventurous concert journey to date, but the evening was worth every minute and every kilometer. Now they’re opening the next chapter in their band history and have already released the first singles, „Pyromancer“ and „Brainrot,“ from their upcoming new album.
