Origin: Quedlinburg, Germany
Genre: Melodic Death Metal / Sci-Fi Metal
Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version.
The band about itself:
Deliver The Galaxy is a melodic death metal band from the center ofGermany, founded in 2010 by Matthias Mente and Christian Rockstedt.Inspired by Scandinavian metal icons such as In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and Before The Dawn, they have developed their own unmistakable style. Themelodies are catchy, ensnaring the listener’s ear and catapulting theminto orbit. However, the songs are never too soft or overloaded, but areskillfully combined with powerful rhythm guitars that provide the typicalDTG sound. This unmistakable dynamic permeates all galaxies.Over the years, DTG has become increasingly experimental, allowing theirsong structures to evolve. The band ventures off the beaten path withoutcompletely abandoning it. The lyrics revolve around the concept of pre-astronautics—the idea that extraterrestrial life forms may have visitedEarth in the past. This lyrical and musical exploration of a fascinatingtopic takes the listener on an adventurous journey.
Editorial commentary:
Today I’m not introducing you to a typical newcomer band, but one that’s been around for 15 years, has released three albums, and is set to grace many stages this year: We’re talking about Deliver the Galaxy. Never heard of them? Well, neither had I – until Rockharz made their name stick. The fact that this band has been active for years and performed quite frequently had completely flown under my radar. So let’s make sure that doesn’t happen to you too.
With a name like Deliver the Galaxy, I expected a lot of things — but not banners featuring cuneiform script. And that’s where the twist begins. The band hasn’t just shifted its focus over time; it’s building an ongoing narrative. Their albums follow the protagonist Natham across the vastness of space in his epic battle against the alien army of Sularis. Admittedly, I stole that sentence from their info sheet on BackstagePro — but honestly, I couldn’t have put it better myself.
The concept reminds me a bit of Orden Ogan, who’ve been pursuing a similar storyline for years through their character Alister Vale. And that’s exactly what makes it exciting. Knowing there’s a story thread to follow as you explore their albums makes connecting with the band surprisingly easy.
But of course, I don’t want to ignore the music itself: thundering drums and cosmic guitar riffs drive a sound that has grown more defined with every release. The clear and easily understandable growls make it easy to follow the lyrics, and there are plenty of highs and lows, tempo shifts, and dynamic turns.
It’s a truly high-quality production. All the more reason I’m thrilled that we’ll be seeing a lot more of this band in the future!
