The band about itself:
Led by frontman Kyle Blaqk, Auger combine dark aesthetics with catchy melodies. The genre-spanning band blends elements of gothic, rock and synthwave into an atmospheric soundscape that captivates listeners with its deep, melodic vocals and catchy choruses.
Editorial commentary:
Auger is one of those bands that open a festival day that you’ve never heard of before, but which then stay in your memory the longest. On the first look, there seems to be not much to it: two guys on a stage that’s far too big. But when the first notes ring out, the attention is all there. Kyle’s voice rings out and the stage belongs to him. His distinctive, deep voice literally sucks you in. He makes full use of the stage: He dances, jumps, runs criss-cross with his guitar, while Alex gives his all on the drums and drives the rhythm. The duo develops an impressive and intense stage presence that shows that a lot of energy is also possible as a duo. Musically, Auger combines dark rock with synthwave elements and is occasionally reminiscent of Depeche Mode – but thanks to Kyle’s voice and its unmistakable style, everything sounds completely new. Every song is self-written and self-produced; Auger know exactly what they are doing. Deep guitars form the basic framework, while synthesizers set specific accents, create contrasts and generate a dense atmosphere, but always remain crystal clear and differentiated. This works just as well on quiet songs like Oxygen as it does on powerful songs like Libra. This creates an atmosphere that is truly unparalleled and carries the audience away emotionally.
Auger are a duo with a gigantic impact. They bring live energy, powerful vocal performances and emotional depth with a soundscape that is memorable. Calm, intense songwriting meets powerful dark rock moments – all carried by Kyle’s haunting voice and the clear vision of an independent band identity. Once you’ve heard them, you won’t forget this band in a hurry. For fans of bands such as Diary of Dreams, Depeche Mode or VNV Nation, Auger is an absolute must on any playlist, but everyone else should also give it a listen to get the chance to enjoy Kyle’s voice at least once.
