Band of the week 39/2023
Origin: London
Genre: Heavy Rock, Symphonic Metal
The band about themselves:
I hate to categorise what we do, because sometimes I’m not sure myself! But I suppose you could call Neonfly a heavy rock band with a variety of crazy influences that defy categorisation and exceed expectations! We pay a lot of attention to our lyrics and avoid writing about the usual rock’n’roll clichés.
Editorial commentary:
The British band Neonfly is often described as symphonic metal meets modern rock. You quickly notice this when you listen to some of the tracks – a unique sound that is both powerful and melodic. Their music combines sweeping guitar riffs, epic arrangements and the powerful voice of their charismatic vocalist Willy Norton to create an unmistakable tapestry of sound.
Their debut album, Outshine the Sun was released back in 2011 and marked the beginning of their musical journey. Songs like A Gift to Remember and Ship With No Sails showcased their musical talent and ability to combine complex melodies with powerful lyrics. In 2021, the band released their third and most recent studio album The Future, Tonight. As you can hear, they have noticeably developed their unique sound. The album’s tracks are infectious and accessible. Pieces like This World Is Burning and The Future, Tonight show their ability to convey emotional depth in their lyrics.
One notable aspect of the group is their captivating live performance. We had the pleasure of seeing them live at Nachtleben in Frankfurt as support for Escape the Fate. Their stage presence was simply impressive and they made the small concert hall shake. Their interaction on stage is flawless and they manage to interact with the audience really well and carry away their fans.
In summary, Neonfly is an exciting British metal band that knows how to fuse symphony and rock in a unique way. Their sound is powerful and at the same time thrilling and their live performances are a real experience. We can’t wait to see how their music evolves in the future. We hope to see more epic releases from the band.
