Band of the week: JanRevolution

Band of the week 47/2024

Origin: Kronach, Germany
Genre: Dark Wave Synthpop

Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version.

Editorial commentary:

JanRevolution are the Kronach musician Jan Borkowski, Alex on keyboards and Daniel on guitar.

I saw JanRevolution live at the Devil Stage Festival in Friedrichroda, which took place for the first time ever this year. As a replacement, they only slipped into the line-up two days before the show and were therefore a double surprise. With a lot of charm and good humour, frontman Jan even involved the audience in the design of the setlist and offered a varied show, in which the one or other cover version could not be missing. The bands sound is a spectrum of spherical synth carpets conjured up by Alex on the keyboard and catchy melodies. The band can therefore be categorized in the dark wave synthpop genre. Added to this are rock-heavy guitar riffs from guitarist Daniel. However, the band itself is reluctant to be pigeonholed into a static musical genre.

JanRevolution can already look back on a lot of live experience. The highlight of this year’s festival season was certainly their performance at the M’era Luna Festival, where they were one of the two winners of the newcomer competition and were therefore allowed to open the Sunday.
