Band of the week: Authorist

Band of the week 53/2025

Origin: Aschaffenburg, Deutschland
Genre: Metalcore

Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version.

The band about itself:

„What do people know about my love and what they know about my hate?
In a world where edges are closer then we ever thought AUTHORIST presents the safety line for everyone who is about to fall. Handcrafted Metalcore between decapitating riffs and warming vocals blended with anchoring lycrics will create a harbour for those who wish to sail with the band. The four guys are ready to infuse a voice more powerful and louder than before.“

Editorial commentary:

I first encountered the band at “Burning Burrito” in Flörsheim, an annual concert evening at the end of November, featuring bands that have performed there once during the year. So I actually missed my first chance to see them, but that probably made the performance all the more intense. Because of that, here I am, presenting them as Band of the Week.

It’s well deserved, because they haven’t been on the market for very long and are shaking up the niche metalcore scene. What? Another metalcore band? Yes, because they are something special and have a goal. The performance alone, with its professional lighting background and professional merch, shows where they want to go. No expense or effort has been spared to make it visually clear that this is a band that deserves attention and that conveys this professionalism in the most important thing, the music, as well. It should be noted that the band has only been around since 2023, but based on the individual résumés, they already have plenty of stage experience.

Now to the music itself. What excites me is the atmosphere, the dynamics, and the emotions. Real music, passion in their performances, unadorned, with musical depth. They captivate the people standing in front of them, and the reactions after the show are always not only favorable, but enthusiastic. People are surprised, and that’s unusual in a sea of many bands that often sound the same.

The sound is, to quote, “a powerful fusion of classic metalcore structures,” which I would like to emphasize.

When Nils lets his hair, which is usually tied back in a bun, down, you know that a storm is coming that will simply blow away the front row of the audience. Julian on the drums provides the necessary pressure from behind, supported by Sebastian on the guitar and David on the bass, who supports or takes over the clear vocals. Modern metalcore with everything that goes with it: breakdowns, driving riffs, and deep screams. Give them a listen, and if you get the chance to see them live, it’s definitely worth the ticket price.
