The band about itself:
Hi! We are metal band from Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia). We like experiments and always try to find something interesting in our sounding, sometimes we use ethnical or cool electronic sounds. We are from small town but this is not the reason to do nothing. We will be happy if you help us to make our content better and interesting!
Editorial commentary:
Every year, there is one event where I love discovering new bands: Wacken! More specifically, the Wacken Metal Battle, where I try to watch and photograph all the bands from around the world. Like every year, one band in particular leaves a lasting impression, and in 2025, that band was My Own Shiva.
My Own Shiva are a band from a country whose location I first had to look up, because Kyrgyzstan was previously a blank spot on my inner musical world map. Can you name another band from this country? No? Metal Archives has listed 13 bands, and this one isn’t among them. So why did they stick in my memory? The masks, the name, the concept behind it? Yes, but primarily the music. I admit I haven’t found a genre for the band, which is why I’m assigning them to modern metal for now. Even though the music is partly experimental, contains influences from folklore, and just comes across well, it’s very difficult to label it. It has occasional borrowings that are familiar from Bloodywood, but also very progressive parts. The relevant point is: the music is created far away from any major influences and unfolds differently from piece to piece, which makes it exciting. On the other hand, it’s a band that we don’t get served up on a silver platter every year because they’re not famous enough to tour worldwide. That’s why I’m showing them to you. Keep an eye on them, and if you get the chance to see them, do it!

Band of the week is our weekly posting about a band we recommend and is posted every Tuesday at 8pm (CET). These are bands that are just at the beginning of their career and that we think should receive more attention.
