You won’t find a band bio anywhere; there’s just a brief mention of their genre on social media. But to be honest, that’s exactly what piques my curiosity!
I first stumbled across Folkheim a few years ago and have been following them from afar ever since, as they’d been pretty scarce in Europe. So I was all the more delighted when they were announced for the Wolfszeit Festival last year.
Folkheim play a truly exciting mix of folk and black metal, peppered with ethnic elements such as chanting or traditional instruments. The whole thing is presented in a variety of ways, and if you’re into experimental metal, they’ll have you spellbound straight away. Despite that – or perhaps because of it – they really got the crowd going, and it didn’t take long for the first mosh pits and circle pits to form! It was a performance that was definitely worth the wait!
Fancy seeing the band live for yourselves? Then your next chance is at the Ragnarök Festival, where they’ll be playing as the second act on Friday. And you definitely shouldn’t miss it!
