Band of the week 17/2025
Origin: Koblenz, Germany
Genre: Melodic Post-Hardcore
Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version.
The band about itself:
Lifespark. – in two words: Schöne Wut, since 2018.
Emo Pop Rock from Koblenz with positive and life-affirming lyrics. The four guys radiate a joy of music that you simply can’t escape, not on record and certainly not live. Catchy choruses that make it impossible not to sing along until the mosh pit starts up again at the next breakdown.
The aim of every live show is to let you scream how you feel and go home with a smile.
“I fell in love with his screaming!” / “Try not to headbang is assault here” / “So that wasn’t bad!”
Lifespark proved the truth of these fan quotes beyond doubt at the latest during the support show for Caliban.
“Think about it, they used to hang posters in my room!” – Marcel Randazzo (Bass at Lifespark.)
At every show, you can feel the authentic passion that is evident in every scream and every breakdown.
In September 2023, the band will embark on their first German tour, with new songs – produced by Timo Bonner (Our Mirage) and a big release show as the finale in Koblenz!
The lowest common denominator is that what comes out of the speakers somehow feels right, somehow is the answer to the question that no one has asked. Does this make me happy or can it go away?
Editorial commentary:
After several live visits, it’s clear that Lifespark really do get better and better each time. They don’t just play them, they feel every single song in the same intense way, and it shows without exception. Frontman Dave and guitarist Justus regularly take turns with the vocals playfully and when they are not on, they simply sing along with the other’s part. This gives the songs much, much more expression and is a joy to watch every time. Of course, drummer Dome and bassist Marcel also know how to inspire with their facial expressions and joy of playing, the four from Koblenz simply have the right overall package. Musically, they move between catchy hooks that are perfect for singing along to and then garnish this with a nice dose of violence, which together creates a unique sound. Lifespark are truly an experience in themselves that you simply have to have. Whether on headphones or on stage – one hell of an experience!
