Moyra was founded in 2017 by Margo Szkoda-Hreczuch and fills in the gap in polish metal scene, bringing a breath of fresh air in there
Moyra’s music is melodic death metal with a hint of experimentation, blending various genres of metal. This combination makes Moyra’s music coherent and interesting for present and future listeners. Themes which are dealt by the band are life and mythical symbolism of Moyras – goddesses who rule the human life – the earthly and divine one as well. It’s them who weaved the strands of life and set the path of life. Now, Moyra presents a solid piece of energetic music with lyrics referring to human’s life and fate seen from his own perspective as well as others. The band also does not forget about power of nature without which the humanity would not exist.
Editorial commentary:
Since their formation in 2017, a lot has happened around singer Margo – and it becomes visible. Both on stage and in the studio, the band delivers a strong mix of Moyra-typical melodic death metal with modern influences. Sometimes more growls, sometimes clearer vocals – and all from the same throat. Margo is joined by Szymon on guitar, Kordian on bass and Mike on drums. The band has a really strong presence live, without seeming artificial. Anyone who has seen them before knows: it’s not just noise, it’s atmosphere.
Thematically, Moyra often deal with life, fate and mythological images – the band’s name itself is based on the Greek goddesses of fate. They have released albums such as Isle of the Dead and most recently Omen (2023) via the DarkTunes Music Group label. It sounds rounded, has energy – but without the melody falling by the wayside! Live, they impress with their joy of playing and closeness to the audience. After the concert, you can meet them at the merch stand, and a photo together is usually no problem at all. Moyra is definitely worth a look – and a few knots in your hair – for anyone who likes it hard but doesn’t want to miss out on musical depth!
