Editorial commentary:
Hell Boulevard consists of Matteo “vDiva” Fabbiani (vocals), Raul Sanchez (bass), Jan Hangmann (drums), and Vulture King (guitar). The band was founded in 2014 (with a different lineup, but with Matteo as frontman). It emerged from the remains of Lost Area, an electro-rock band that conquered the gothic scene between 2003 and 2013. I have known Matteo since 2007 – back then, he was playing the keyboard in Adam Kult, an Italian dark electro and EBM band that was active between 2004 and 2009.
Hell Boulevard’s sound is characterized by a skillful mix of hard rock riffs, driving rhythms, and dark, atmospheric elements. Their dark goth rock is also infused with rock ‘n’ roll energy. This is crowned by vDiva’s dark and smoky voice, which can be both powerful and melancholic.
Their energetic and rousing live performances quickly captivate the audience. With their charismatic stage presence, these guys know how to perfectly translate the dark atmosphere of their music into visuals. Most recently, they thrilled thousands of fans at the Amphi Festival in Cologne. In late fall, Hell Boulevard will go on the “We are the Weirdos” tour together with Wisborg, who we already reported on in week 32. The four guys have also already been confirmed for the Dark Malta Festival 2026. So there are plenty of opportunities to see them live – we highly recommend it 🙂
Mastermind Matteo also lives out his creativity off-stage. With his company VD Pictures, he produces graphic designs, promotional photos, and music videos for well-known bands in the scene, including Lord of the Lost, Blutengel, Mono Inc., and Powerwolf.
