The band about itself:

::OT:: OBERER TOTPUNKT is the music project of the Hamburg singer / songwriter Bettina Bormann and composer and drummer Michael Krüger. The spoken word rocks! ::OT:: combines electrical, wave and EBM elements with German texts. While the sound concept is guided by dark, morbid soundscapes and the massive beats of Michael Krüger, the singing is replaced by recitations with the apocalyptic lyrics of the front woman Bettina Bormann. Their label Danse Macabre markets Oberer Totpunkt as a representative of the New German Death Art, which music journalists also identify as an influencing factor. ::OT:: has released six studio albums on the Wave Gothic label Danse Macabre Records and performs live as a duo or with other live musicians: Sebastian Rack (Guitar, Bass), Denis Scheither (Keyboard, Vocals), Christiane Schmidt (Keyboard, Vocals), Reaktor4 (Performance).

Editorial commentary:

When you see Oberer Totpunkt live for the first time, it’s like an explosion of the senses. The musicians storm onto the stage with almost brute force and immediately captivate the audience. Hard bass and Bettina’s archaic chanting leave no one cold. More and more musicians join them on stage. The entire show is an arranged, macabre musical theatre production, with every element planned, be it various accessories, masks, or different headgear, making the whole spectacle a special experience. You feel a bit transported back to the 80s. A bit of post-punk, a bit of NDW, a bit of synth-pop, all packaged in Oberer Totpunkt’s own style. The lyrics are dark, melancholic, and abstract, skirting the edge of the abyss but looking deep into it. Those expecting light fare will be disappointed. But if you want to forget the gray reality for an evening and experience all the facets of black beneath the shades of gray, you simply have to see this.
