The band about itself:
Waves Like Walls are not just a Melodic Hardcore band.
Since their formation in 2012, the five guys from Ingolstadt have remained true to themselves: Always honest, always full throttle, always 100% energy. The result is profound songs that impress with their catchy melodies and uncompromising heaviness.
The trademark: Energetic live shows that make even experienced hobby moshers run out of breath. Simply put: Hardcore that gets under your skin.
True to this motto, „WLW“ still don’t let anybody tell them what to do and still have something to say. With the expected power and fresh ideas, you can hear the proof on their new album „it never ends“ in June 2024.
Editorial commentary:
Melodic hardcore? Check. Brutal screams and riffs? Check. Anti-racist and socially critical lyrics? Check. If you combine all this, you get the band Waves Like Walls. These guys from Ingolstadt haven’t been with me for very long, but they’ve already made their way into my heart. With lyrics like Unite, which is a very clear middle finger to any form of right-wing extremism, or Keep Fighting, a song that deals with the topic of depression, it was hardly surprising that the band burned themselves directly into my memory and found their way into my playlist.
The Ingolstadt band define themselves through brutal screams, combined with very clean cleans, which still incorporate a certain amount of vocal fry. In addition, there are melodic riffs that move forward. Unlike other hardcore bands, especially from the US, Waves Like Walls rely almost entirely on screams and shouts, which are accompanied by the cleans. This creates an energy that is rarely found in underground music and can definitely be felt on stage. Their latest record It Never Ends is particularly convincing and definitely doesn’t need to hide from the big names in hardcore.
As a hardcore fan, a listen is a must and a live visit is definitely recommended.
